LODO, the evolution of L’Orciolo d’Oro, is the world’s oldest competition dedicated to Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO), born from an idea by Marta Cartoceti in 1985 and organized since the 1st edition with her daughter Manuela Vigo.
Our strength lies in the continuity of family tradition.
We take pride in being the sole professional international context that has successfully conducted 33 consecutive editions.
Our history is defined by innovation and visionary outlook. Since our inception, we have consistently stood out for our independent and innovative thinking.
Today, we are the solitary international context that offers
FREE REGISTRATION.
The decision to provide complimentary registration is driven by our earnest desire to promote excellence by enabling EVOO producers worldwide to participate in an international context without any financial burden.
All participating companies and oils that have attained THREE ORCIOLI are eligible for inclusion in the fourth paper edition of LODO GUIDE 2025.
The fee for publication in the Guide amounts to €300 per company.
However, the Winners (The Faces of Oil and the Special Mentions) are granted complimentary publication.
All participants will receive banners certifying their achieved results (FINALIST, LODO’S SELECTION, or CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION), which can be shared on social media for increased visibility. These banners will be issued subsequent to a rigorous pre-selection conducted by the LODO Management.
Following the submission of oils, each company will receive relevant diplomas certifying their attained results.
The diplomas will be digitally dispatched between December 2024 and January 2025.
The scores obtained are valid for one year, and any promotional material will be dated 2025.
Lodo is a Qualifying Gourmet Project committed to promoting absolute quality, with a primary emphasis on the marketing of the product.
Our paramount objective is to identify, appreciate, and disseminate quality, as we firmly believe that this attribute is intrinsic and independent of the quantity of oil produced.
LODO, Upstream since 1991, promotes and organizes International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Selections for the 2023/2024 season.
The competition, open to producers, bottlers, individuals, or associations, is reserved for extra virgin olive oils classified as such based on parameters and rules established by the EU regulation.
The EVOO samples, admitted to the competition after sensory examination and documentation review by the Management, will undergo further sensory evaluation by an international panel of tasters registered in the lists of tasters established according to current regulations, belonging to various associations/delegations of tasters involved, from Italy and abroad.
Upon request of the Management or the Panel, the samples may be subjected, even only for certain parameters, to a chemical-physical examination at a laboratory chosen by the Management, which will bear the related costs.
The sensory analysis by the Management and the Panel is final and indisputable.
The Management ensures that the samples for taste selections and/or sent to the analysis laboratory will be made strictly anonymous according to ordinary procedures.
Received samples are stored in a dark environment at a constant temperature of 14/15 degrees Celsius to ensure their optimal preservation.
ONE STAGE dedicated to companies in the NORTHERN HEMISPHERE and those in the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE.
Opening on November 22, 2023, and closing on June 20, 2024.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Sensory analyses will be carried out upon the arrival of each sample to capture all the taste and olfactory nuances that an extra virgin can offer.
All participating samples, both from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, compete for the same Awards and Awards.
