An award presented to a company run by women, that has demonstrated its ability to do its job with courage and tenacity in a business environment that is not always favourable. Donatella Cinelli Colombini will award this important and symbolic prize from a selection of 5 “pink” companies.


Donatella Cinelli Colombini comes from one of the historic Brunello di Montalcino lineages. She was born in Siena in 1953, the city where she graduated in History of Art with all kind of honors. She was the first to understand the tourist potential of wine places and, in 1993, she invented “Cantine Aperte” (“Open Cellars”), that in a few years led to success wine tourism in Italy.  Today she teaches wine tourism in postgraduate Masters. In 1998 she left the family business to create her own made up of the Prime Donne family in Montalcino where she produces Brunello and the Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda with a Chianti cellar and an agritourism center : the first wineries in Italy with an entirely female staff. In 2003 Donatella won the Oscar for best Italian producer and published the Wine Tourism Manual.  In 2007 was published her second book Marketing of wine tourism, followed in 2016 by Marketing of “Cantine Aperte”(“Open Cellars”). From 2001 to 2011 she was Councilor for Tourism of the Municipality of Siena and in this period she conceived the “urban trekking”, a new form of sustainable and healthy tourism. In 2012 she was awarded the “Vinitaly International Award” and in 2014 the title Cavaliere of the Italian Republic.  Since 2016 she has been the National President of the Women of Wine.
