LODO SCENT GOURMET is the competition dedicated to extra virgin olive oil-based dressings and oils flavored with natural aromas.
The evolution of the agri-food sector, influenced by changing lifestyles and the continuously refining preferences of consumers worldwide, who have become more cultured, original, and demanding, has resulted in a substantial growth of a market segment for innovative and high-quality products.
Consequently, the proposition and demand for products like dressings based on extra virgin olive oil, deserving special attention for being sought after and utilized across all levels of cuisine, come into fruition.
With LODO SCENT GOURMET, we select the best flavors from around the world.
Flavored extra virgin olive oil-based seasonings from a minimum marketed batch of 50 litres in the single category are permitted:
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL-BASED CONDIMENT FLAVORED WITH NATURAL FLAVORS
Tastings will be conducted on a case-by-case basis upon the arrival of the samples.
A SINGLE PHASE is dedicated to companies in both the NORTHERN HEMISPHERE and the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE.
The competition opens on November 22nd, 2023, and closes on June 20th, 2024.
All participating samples whether from the Northern or Southern Hemisphere compete for the same Awards and Recognitions.
The FORMAT includes a selection of tastings curated and directed by the LODO Management.
The LODO Context is conceived, directed, and organized by Manuela Vigo and Vincenzo Federico Petisi by LODO.

All evaluation sheets for the samples and reviews are exclusively prepared by the LODO Management.

Registration is FREE and can be done on the website www.lodo-guide.com through the REGISTER button in the dedicated section.
Select the quantity of oils you want to register by clicking on the number of your interest (you can register up to 10 oils)
Those aspiring to participate in LODO SCENT GOURMET, exclusively dedicated to flavored extra virgin oils, must send the following by June 20, 2024, at the latest, starting from January 9th, 2023:
– 3 bottles of 0.250 liters of commercially marketed oil per competing sample.

IMPORTANT:
The requested materials, specifically LOGO, BOTTLE PHOTO, LABEL, must be in high definition (PDF or vector) and must be received by June 20th, 2024, under penalty of exclusion of the sample from the guide publication.
No appeal or objection will be accepted.
The Management disclaims any responsibility for the possible delay in the arrival of the samples, alterations to the samples, breakages, or any other possible damage suffered during transportation.
Shipping and customs clearance expenses are the full responsibility of participating companies.
The registration fee for LODO SCENT GOURMET is FREE.
All participating companies and oils that have obtained at least THREE ORCIOLI can be published in the fourth print edition LODO GUIDE 2025.
The fee for publication in the Guide is €300 per Company.

Our evaluation method is based on the comparative study of three factors:
– Analysis of the pairing of the cultivar or blend used with the aroma for the creation of flavored oil.
– Balance and harmony between the oil and the aroma used.
– Definition and persistence of the aroma in its perspective of use.
ONE ORCIOLO, EXCELLENT from 88 – 90
High quality, important balance between aroma and the used extra virgin oil. Excellent representation of SCENT GOURMET.
TWO ORCIOLO, OUTSTANDING from 91 – 94
Great elegance and harmony, excellent fusion of aroma with the cultivar or blend. Excellence of international SCENT GOURMET.
THREE ORCIOLO, LODEVOLE from 95 – 99
Structure and harmony masterfully expressed in a bouquet of unique olfactory and gustatory sensations, flavored oil perfectly in line with the canons of gourmet cuisine and haute cuisine.
The ultimate representation of international SCENT GOURMET.
Awards and recognitions will be exclusively given to oils that have scored 95|100 or higher.
All participants will receive a banner for use on social media and a certificate for each submitted oil.
The winners of LODO SCENT GOURMET are the top-ranked, based on our evaluation method, in the following categories:
– BEST HERB-FLAVORED
– BEST SPICE-FLAVORED
– BEST FRUIT-FLAVORED
– BEST TRUFFLE-FLAVORED
The Recognitions and Special Awards will be presented and awarded during the award ceremony in September 2024.
Awards that are not collected can, upon request, be shipped, and shipping costs will be borne by the producer.
